2020/21: Welcome back!
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:9-12
The Chaplaincy team have been chosen, this will work over 3 bubbles. The children applied for the role by explaining how they would be a good Chaplain and lead our school in prayer.
Children in Y5/Y6 will be our leaders with their deputies in two other bubbles; Y3/Y4 and Y2.
The children are excited to lead and evaluate the worship throughout the school.
Our Chaplaincy Team will support children from their bubble through the Year of Mission. We all look forward to hearing their plans for exciting events.
The Sanctuary is open on weekly rota for each bubble to use and enjoy. The children have access to activities and also have time to pray and reflect.

Why do these children want to be our school Chaplains?
Each child, who wished to be part of our school Chaplaincy Team, explained why they wanted to become a Chaplain. Here are the successful explanations.

  • I like to help people in need and when there is a problem I like to fix it. It doesn’t matter if I don’t get to be a Chaplain but if I am chosen, I will be really happy because I love to be kind to people.
  • I would like to help other children.
  • In this world people don’t have a guide so who is going to help them? I want to help Pope Francis spread the wonders of God’s Word and also help children, parents and homeless people find their guide who is the Lord our God. God will lead them not into temptation as the prayer Jesus taught is in the Our Father.
  • I would like to be a Chaplain because something happened and that made me realise you only live once so make it count. I want to try new things and meet new people so that is shy I want to be a Chaplain.

  • I'm very helpful and very nice and I help my friends when they are stuck or they need help. I always listen to anyone who needs my help and when I see someone who falls over.
  • I want to help others to love God and to help people who need my help.
  • I am confident and good with others. My mum has always said that I am a good reader. I am very good at doing new things.
  • I want to welcome new people to the school and make them feel like they are part of the family. I would like to tell everyone to follow God’s footsteps and understand that God forgives you no matter what.

  • I am confident to help others and go to church. I like to talk to others and the answer them and guide them.
  • I would like to share the Word of God with year 1, 2 and 3. I will be a good Chaplain because my mum told me a lot about God and I follow what my mum said.
  • I am good at welcoming new pupils and staff to our school. I would like to organise worship and prayer in the Sanctuary.
  • I would like to be a Chaplain because I would lead the school to its full potential. When visitors come, I will be an amazing representative of the school.
  • I like to bring people to God and help people be with God, it makes me feel like I am doing my part. I am interested because I’d like to go to the Cathedral and run the Sanctuary and do other jobs. I think that is it important for everyone to be with God and I want to help to do that.

  • I've heard that the Chaplain team made a difference to the school and I would really like to be part of that, it would be a very interesting experience. It helps others get closer to God.
  • I would be responsible for everything dealing with prayers, the Sanctuary and more. I will support everyone in the school. I want to be in the spiritual team to give hope and joy. I will always be responsible and always be on track no matter what happens.
  • I want to help people to worship God and to help people who are new to this school.
  • I am good at fundraising events to help our school with money going to our education. Being a Chaplain is important for younger and older students.
January 2020: Our Chaplaincy Team began to support children from KS1 and KS2 when the Sanctuary was officially launched at the beginning of Advent last term. Throughout this year, the Sanctuary will be open to everyone including Bush Babies and Reception classes. We look forward to hearing their plans for exciting events as we begin the Year of Communion. This term the Sanctuary reopens with activities related to Peace Sunday (January 15th).

November 2019: Our 2019-2020 Chaplaincy Team joined other primary schools, within the Diocese, for a special commissioning service at Clifton Cathedral in Bristol. As part of the ceremony, they received special badges and certificates from the Bishop. As the Year of Communion begins, these children will be tasked with the important role of leading prayer and collective worships throughout the school.
Congratulations to them all!
